End Citizens United Plans to Make a Difference in 2018 Midterms

Midterm elections are notoriously hard to get people interested in. However, midterm elections are some of the most important elections in the country. This is particularly true as 2018 gets going after a disastrous first year from the Trump administration. The 2018 Midterms have the potential to completely change the political landscape for the next two years, at least. End Citizens United is a political action committee that has committed themselves to getting out and advocating for voters to make their voices heard. End Citizens United was founded on the idea of getting rid of the 2010 Supreme Court ruling surrounding Citizens United — a right-wing propaganda group led by lawyer James Bopp. End Citizens United sees a chance to make serious headway in 2018, and here is how they are going to do it, and what End Citizens United knows.

The 2018 Midterms will likely make or break the entire Trump presidency, though some would argue that it has already been pretty broken as it is. With that being said, things could undergo dramatic change if progressives manage to retake the House and don’t think for a moment that conservatives don’t understand this. End Citizens United is going to spend the next year helping to funnel voters to where they need to go in order to help champion politicians who are willing to fight back for the average American voter. End Citizens United will be directing much of their focus on four vulnerable seats in California. These four seats belong to Dana Rohrabacher, who was alleged to be ‘bought by Putin’ according to Paul Ryan, Darrell Issa and Duncan Hunter, who both are under fire for misusing campaign funds, and Mimi Walters.

End Citizens United was created in 2015 as a response to the disastrous Citizens United ruling that we’ve spent so much time discussing. The Citizens United ruling fundamentally opened the floodgates to an influx of dark money, special interests, and corporate donors. With this happening, the American government ended up completely hijacked by people with the biggest checks to write. As a result, American voters are increasingly getting ignored by their elected representatives. 2018 shows the first real chance that American voters have to make a difference and start to take back some control of their political voice.

Tiffany Muller is the president of End Citizens United and she has been both vocal and energized in her pursuit for change in Washington D.C. Muller points to California as a real opportunity and she let reporters know that via a conference call. Muller said, “California represents some of the best opportunities, and some of the most egregious examples that we have seen.” Muller is, of course, talking about examples revolving around special interests buying off politicians in the government, and more information click here.
