Dr. Scott Rocklage is a healthcare specialist with over 30 years’ experience in the industry. In 2003, Dr. Rocklage joined 5AM Ventures as a Partner and became a Managing Partner in 2004. Dr. Rocklage got his idea of 5AM Ventures from the “early” concept as 5AM timing is early.

Dr. Rocklage’s extensive experience in healthcare management coupled with his unmatched leadership responsibilities saw Food and Drug Administration (FDA) successfully approve three New Drug Application in the United States. They include Omniscan, Teslascan, and Cubicin. Dr. Rocklage also enrolled six candidates to clinical trials.

Career history

Prior to being a partner at 5AM Ventures, Dr. Rocklage served as the President and CEO of Nycomed Salutar from 1990 to 1994. Dr. Rocklage also served as the Chairman and CEO of Cubist Pharmaceuticals from 1994 to 2003. Dr. Rocklage also held the position of President, CEO, and Chairman of Nycomed Interventional. He has also held several R&D responsibilities at Salutar and Catalytica, served as Chairman of the Board for Relypsa (NASDAQ: PULM) and Novira. He’s currently the Board Chairman of Rennovia, Kinestral, and Cidara (NASDAQ: CDTX) and Epirus (NASDAQ: EPRS) and Pulmatrix (NASDAQ: PULM).

Education background

Dr. Rocklage studied Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and did his Ph.D. in Chemistry too from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Rocklage conducted his research in the laboratory of 2005 Chemistry Nobel Prize winner Richard R. Schrock.

Dr. Rocklage who is based in Boston, MA, is an inventor and co-inventor. He holds over 30 U.S. patents and his publications are peer-reviewed more than 100 times.

Dr. Rocklage works with entrepreneurs to brainstorm ideas to life. He actively engages with scientists, physicians, and successful business people in brainstorming on ideas that can bring solutions to unmet medical needs.
