SHAKIRA MAKES A RED-HOT MET GALA DEBUT IN A HIGH-SLIT CAROLINA HERRERA GOWN
Shakira made a red-hot Met Gala debut—literally. The singer made her grand entrance to the event wearing a Carolina Herrera gown, featuring a high-slit and a voluminous cape that cascaded down the Met steps. She styled her hair in loose waves.
The night’s dress code was “The Garden of Time” in celebration of the museum’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit.
Believe it or not, Shakira has never attended a Met Gala prior to this year. Over the weekend, she sparked rumors she might attend, perhaps even wearing Versace, when she wished designer Donatella Versace a happy birthday on Instagram.
The musician has recently been in a period of reinvention following her split from Gerard Piqué. She spoke to ELLE in September 2022 about how she was approaching her life following that dark period. “Every time life tests you, I think that you always find a helping hand that you can hold on to while you cry,” she shared. “I think that even when you feel like you’re falling down an abyss and there’s no end to that abyss, there’s always a certain safety net at the bottom. And that safety net is formed by family and friends. And if you’ve done things right, you will find that helping hand. And friendship, they say, is the purest form of love, and maybe the most long-lasting one. It’s been so incredible to find the support of so many colleagues, not only friends, but also colleagues, people who have been checking in on me constantly.”
