STUDIO GHIBLI GETS FIRST-EVER 4K UHD BLU-RAY RELEASE DATE WITH THE BOY AND THE HERON

Studio Ghibli's Academy Award-winning The Boy and the Heron, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, has now received its home entertainment release date, promising new interviews, featurettes and more from GKIDS and Shout! Studios.

Via a press release, Studio Ghibli's The Boy and the Heron drops digitally in 4K on June 25 via distributor GKIDS. This will be followed on July 9 by a physical 4K UHD + Blu-ray release, Blu-ray + DVD release, and limited-edition steelbook featuring 4K UHD + Blu-ray, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Shout! Studios oversees the distribution of the home entertainment versions. It continues its partnership with GKIDS, having worked together on the physical release of the popular The First Slam Dunk film. The Boy and the Heron marks the first-ever Studio Ghibli film to be released in 4K UHD, with all versions shipping with both English and Japanese dubbed voices.
