WHO PLAYS SADIE IN THE BOOGEYMAN?

For more than half a century, Stephen King has been one of the best-loved horror writers on the planet. If you've been following the renowned fright-meister's career over the decades, you know he's also been one of the most prolific. And Hollywood has, in turn, been adapting works from King's sprawling oeuvre at a similarly break-neck pace.

The latest of King's hair-raising tales to get the big screen treatment is the 1973 short story titled "The Boogeyman," which finds the Harper family grieving the loss of their matriarch, and fighting off attacks from a ghastly supernatural entity bent on tormenting sisters Sadie and Sawyer. That tale is told with King's signature blend of moody, jump-scary menace, and genuine human pathos. Those first two elements come through in the film thanks to some savvy direction from "Dashcam" helmer Rob Savage. As for the pathos, "The Boogeyman" relies heavily on the cast to bring that to the forefront.

And the young actor who portrays Sadie Harper is already earning strong notes for her work in bringing human heart to intense stories. Her name is Sophie Thatcher, and she's very much a star on the rise in Hollywood. If you're not yet familiar with her name, you likely will be in the very near future.

Sophie Thatcher Has Had A Legit Hollywood Breakthrough In Recent Years

If you're a fan of Showtime's cult-hit drama series "Yellowjackets," Sophie Thatcher's name should already be quite familiar to you, as she plays the teenaged version of Natalie "Nat" Scatorccio. Adult Nat is portrayed by Juliette Lewis in latter-day scenes on "Yellowjackets," and the two actors have dazzled over the series' first two seasons in their ability to not just mimic each other as Nat, but to each fully embody the character's relentlessly salty spirit. Nat will no doubt continue to shine after the show returns from the devastating Season 2 finale.

"Yellowjackets" is not the only major small screen venture to front a solid performance from Thatcher, as she also turned up in three episodes of "The Book of Boba Fett." She made her first appearance as the scooter-riding Mods street gang member Drash during the Robert Rodriguez-helmed episode "The Streets of Mos Espa." She eventually went to battle alongside the titular bounty hunter turned Tatooine underworld boss, and his Darksaber wielding ally Din Djarin.

The latter character is, of course, played by Pedro Pascal. And "Boba Fett" was not the first time Thatcher had worked with the man behind "The Mandalorian," having portrayed his teen daughter in the underrated 2018 sci-fi flick "Prospect." Thatcher also fronted the short-lived series "When the Streetlights Go on," made appearances on "Chicago Med," "Chicago P.D.," and "The Exorcist," and worked alongside screen legends John Lithgow and Blythe Danner in the 2019 indie "The Tomorrow Man." Given the current trajectory of Thatcher's career, we should probably expect a lot more high profile roles for her moving forward.
