BORDERLANDS MOVIE DEBUTS EXPLOSIVE NEW POSTER AT CCXP MEXICO

The upcoming Borderlands live-action film proves why 'Chaos Loves Company' before its anticipated release. The adaptation's latest poster show the star-studded cast gearing up for explosive adventures.

At CCXP Mexico, Borderlands released its latest promotional poster to ramp up anticipation for its summer debut. The poster shows the Borderlands cast ready for action, with star Cate Blanchett among many others wielding weapons ahead of tense battles with various alien monsters and dangerous bandits.

Blanchett stars in Borderlands as Lilith, a rebellious outlaw with a mysterious past who reluctantly returns to Pandora, her home planet, to find the missing daughter of Atlas, the world's most powerful S.O.B. While there, she forms an unlikely alliance with a group of misfits and outcasts to try and find the missing girl. The group aligns to take on several nefarious forces to locate the girl, who could hold the key to unimaginable power.

The Borderlands cast features Blanchett starring alongside Kevin Hart, who portrays Roland, a former elite mercenary desperate for redemption. Ariana Greenblatt plays Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist. Oscar-winning actor plays Dr. Patricia Tannis, a scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity. Meanwhile, The Super Mario Bros. Movie star Jack Black plays the robot, Claptrap, who he calls an 'R-Rated R2-D2' character.

Based on Gearbox Software's popular action role-playing first-person looter shooter video game of the same name, Borderlands debuted its first trailer and images in February. Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands began filming in Hungary in 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the film required two weeks of reshoots early last year, with Deadpool director Tim Miller stepping in for Roth, who was working on Thanksgiving. The movie also allegedly involves The Last of Us co-creator Craig Mazin in some capacity. While Mazin has denied penning the screenplay for Borderlands, multiple reports suggest he has been active with the project using a pseudonym, Joe Crombie, to cover up his involvement.

Lionsgate premiered footage of the Borderlands movie at CinemaCon in 2022, introducing Blanchett's main character. The upcoming film also features Creed franchise star Florian Munteanu, Jungle Cruise's Edgar Ramírez, and Penn Jillette, the voice of Pain in the Borderlands 3 video game, portraying a preacher overseeing a wedding for the live-action movie.

Borderlands opens in theaters across North America on Aug. 9.
