EXCLUSIVE: IMDB REVEALS TOP MOVIES AND SERIES OF 2023

As first revealed by CBR, IMDb has officially announced the top films and series of 2023.

On Tuesday, IMDb officially unveiled the top stars, movies, and series of the year. IMDb, which is the world's most popular source for information on film and TV shows, didn't come to these results through critics' reviews or box office performance. The rankings were determined by using data from IMDbPro MOVIEmeter and STARmeter rankings, which are based on the actual page views from more than 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb. While these lists may have some surprises within, it's hard to argue with the results for the top spots in each category.

The 2000s saw the birth of a new Golden Age of Television. According to the users of IMDb, these shows are the best of the best.

The battle for the top spot with the movies list was a "Barbenheimer" rematch. While Barbie was the clear winner at the worldwide box office, it was Oppenheimer that managed to clinch the No. 1 spot on IMDb's list. This follows another recent win for Oppenheimer in the continued "Barbenheimer" battle, as their VOD battle also saw Christopher Nolan's J. Robert Oppenheimer biopic outperform Greta Gerwig's film about Mattel's iconic doll. Barbie is still ranking high at No. 2, however, as the blockbuster film was also met with great praise from filmgoers. The full top ten list can be viewed below.

2023's Top Series on IMDb Have Been Revealed

Meanwhile, the big winner with the TV shows is HBO's The Last of Us. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the video game adaptation is both very popular and widely acclaimed. There are also two Star Wars shows in the top ten, as Ahsoka nearly cracked the top spot just under The Last of Us, while Season 3 of The Mandalorian landed at No. 5. Also joining The Last of Us in the top five is another hit HBO series, with the final season of Succession getting the No. 3 spot. The full top ten list can be seen below.

Also announced for IMDb is its new Interests feature. Now available to use on the IMDb app, the new feature will help fans "explore and find top trending movies and series from genres they love the most," per IMDb. More year-end lists can also be viewed at IMDb.com.
