It’s a Spider-Man-filled week with the release of Across the Spider-Verse coming, and while most people’s attention is on the latest animated movie, the live-action series with Tom Holland and Zendaya has received a huge update via Sony’s Amy Pascal.

On the red carpet for Across the Spider-Verse, Pascal revealed to Variety that a fourth Spider-Man film with Holland and Zendaya is in the works. However, the current WGA writers’ strike has paused development.

“Are we going to make another [Spider-Man] movie? Of course, we are,” Pascal said.

She continued, “We’re in the process, but the writers’ strike [has paused development]. Nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

Another Sony executive, Tom Rothman, jokingly said, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you” in reference to any updates about Spider-Man 4.

This is great news for Spider-Man fans. It may have felt inevitable, especially given the ending of No Way Home, but to know that a fourth entry in Holland’s series is exciting — especially given that he’ll become the first live-action actor to get a fourth film.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a multiverse adventure as Peter Parker (Tom Holland) attempted to reverse the events of Far From Via via a spell from Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). When the spell doesn’t go according to plan, Peter has to herd villains from across various universes. In the end, Dr. Strange uses a spell that makes everyone forget who Peter Parker was, including MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon). It ends with Peter being a complete stranger to his former best friends, but we’ll have to see where that progresses in Spider-Man 4.
