Nicole Kidman: I 'Wouldn't Be Here Without' My 'Rock' Keith Urban
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are both natives of the land down under, but the couple met and fell in love on the other side of the world. The Big Little Lies star and Urban first crossed paths at the G’Day USA Gala — an event honoring Australians in Los Angeles — in 2005. Kidman was immediately smitten with the country singer, but Urban took a little longer to come around. “I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me,” Kidman told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017. “It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.” However, the “God Whispered Your Name” singer didn’t immediately contact the actress because he wasn’t in the right mindset for a relationship at the time. “Somebody had given me her number and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it thinking, ‘If I call this number, she’s going to answer. I don’t know what [to] say,'” Urban recalled on the Australian talk show Interview in 2018. “I wasn’t in a very healthy place in my life.” He added, “I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me. But, at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless.” The couple later tied the knot in June 2006 in a romantic ceremony in Manly, Australia. Kidman and Urban’s wedded bliss was short-lived as the “Wasted Time” crooner entered rehab in October 2006 after the Bombshell star staged an intervention. “I caused the implosion of my fresh marriage,” Urban told Rolling Stone in 2016. “It survived, but it’s a miracle it did. I was spiritually awoken with her. I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel. And for the first time in my life, I could shake off the shackles of addiction.” Kidman gave birth to their first child, daughter Sunday Rose, in July 2008. Urban and the Moulin Rouge star welcomed their second daughter, Faith Margaret, via surrogate in December 2011. The Oscar winner is also the mother of daughter Isabella and son Conner, whom she adopted with her ex-husband Tom Cruise. The Lion star told Harper’s Bazaar in 2018 that her marriage has been successful because the couple always make time for each other. “Obviously I work hard, but when I’m off, I’m off,” she explained. “Keith and I are very good at immediately clicking off because we have a really good life in Nashville that’s very simple, quiet and nourishing because we’ve made it like that.” Scroll down to see a timeline of their relationship.
New 'Scream' Posters Tease OG Cast Facing Ghostface Once Again
Ready for a good scare? The Scream franchise is gearing up to release a fifth film in the near future. After late director Wes Craven’s first-ever Scream movie arrived in 1996, it became a sleeper hit that drew in $173 million at the worldwide box office. Its success led to the creation of three sequels in 1997, 2000 and 2011. Eight years after Scream 4, Spyglass Media Group secured the rights to develop another Scream film. It was later announced in March 2020 that Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, both of whom directed the 2019 horror movie Ready or Not, would direct the fifth flick. Kevin Williamson, who created and wrote the original film, will also return as an executive producer. Neve Campbell, who plays Sidney Prescott, was hesitant about returning to the franchise since Craven wouldn’t be overseeing the project due to his 2015 death. “I definitely had a period where I was thinking it would just be too odd to do a movie without Wes, and I wasn’t certain that I would want to do that,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2020. “But, I think enough time has passed. I got this really, really respectful letter from the directors [Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett] of the new one. They came to me with Scream 5, and these directors are incredibly talented.” The Party of Five alum eventually signed on to join the fifth film. “They wrote a letter honoring Wes in such a beautiful way, and they expressed that the reason they make horror movies is because of Wes and the Scream films,” she continued. “They also expressed how blown away they are at the idea of actually getting an opportunity to make one of them and how much they want to honor and respect Wes’ vision. It was just beautiful, and I was really grateful. I had really thought that the only way I’d step into a new project with new directors is if they really wanted to honor him. So, we’ll see.” The fifth installment will also reunite onscreen love interests Courteney Cox and David Arquette, who married in real life in 1999 but split in 2010. Now, they coparent daughter Coco. “We coparent, so we’re in touch quite a bit. It’s great. But we always love working together,” the Never Been Kissed actor told Entertainment Tonight in August 2020. “She’s an incredible actress, so it’ll be fun to bring these characters back to life and see where they’re at. … Costarring’s the easy part.” As more updates continue to come in, check out the gallery below to learn everything there is to know about the fifth Scream.
Javier Bardem Gushes Over Penelope Cruz: 'I'm Very Proud of Her'
A love that was years in the making! Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem knew each other for more than a decade before their relationship became romantic, and since then, they have managed to keep their personal lives relatively private. The couple met while filming the 1992 film Jamón, Jamón. They reunited for 2008’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona and sparks flew. Cruz and Bardem began dating in 2007. They secretly tied the knot in July 2010 and went on to welcome two children: son Leo in January 2011 and daughter Luna in July 2013. The actress reflected on the start of her relationship with the Eat Pray Love star in Marie Claire’s February 2019 issue. “You know it’s the beginning of something, but you don’t know what it’s the beginning of,” she explained at the time. Cruz noted that she did not rush into settling down, although it was always one of her goals. “My life is … a very different life. But it’s the life that I always wanted since I was a little girl,” she said. “When I was 4 or 5, I was already performing, and the characters in my games were always mothers. I really wanted to be a mother, for as long as I can remember. But I did it when I felt the time was right — the right time, the right person.” The American Crime Story alum and Bardem have continued to act together through the years as their dynamic evolved both on screen and off. “Life has changed. We have grown,” he told Vulture in February 2019. “Everything is different once you’re a family. That is the priority, as it should be. We’re no exception from that. We work as hard as we can, but we recognize how hard we can work depends on each other’s needs. It’s important not to be confused by fiction. Fiction is fiction, reality is its own thing.” The Skyfall actor acknowledged how his approach to starring alongside Cruz changed over time. “When you’re younger — because we’ve worked together many times over the years, we met when I was 21 and she was 16 — you tend to confuse one for the other, or mix them,” he elaborated. “Now, I’m going to be 50 in a few weeks, and I don’t do this anymore. She’s the same way. You must always know when you’re working on a level of recreation, outside of real life.” He concluded: “Penélope and I, we have to protect the ‘us.’” Scroll through the gallery below to revisit Bardem and Cruz’s relationship.
