The honor comes nearly 27 years after the multi-talented legend was shot and killed in Las Vegas, Nevada.

An esteemed rapper, poet, actor, and activist, there's no question why his legacy has soared far beyond his time on earth. Originally from New York, Shakur moved to California as a teen and became widely known as a west coast rap legend.

Selling over 75 million records, he used his voice to uplift the voiceless. Through his conscious rap lyrics, he addressed the inequalities and social issues that tormented many inner cities.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame said “this iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come. Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”

Tupac's sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur will accept the star on his behalf at the ceremony set to take place June 7 at 10:30AM PT.
