FIRST LOOK: DC 2024 PRIDE FEATURE BELOVED LGBTQ+ CHARACTERS

DC Comics' Eisner and Ringo award-winning DC Pride anthology will return this May with over 100 pages of new stories and content featuring the publisher's legendary LGBTQ+ superheroes. DC recently gave fans a sneak peek at the cover art and interiors for the upcoming book.

DC Pride 2024 includes an all-star creative lineup including Al Ewing, Phil Jimenez, Melissa Marr and Nicole Maines. The 104-page anthology will be released in a Prestige format featuring a main cover by Kevin Wada and an open-to-order wraparound variant cover by David Talaski, as well as foil and card stock variants by Babs Tarr. Wada's main cover will also be available as a 1:25 card stock variant. DC previewed interior art for nine of the stories in the anthology, which will go on sale May 28.

The previewed pages show some of DC's most beloved LGBTQ+ characters, including Kaldur (Aqualad) in 'The Rivers and the Lakes That You're Used To', Poison Ivy in 'Marasmius', and Harley Quinn in 'The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley'. The anthology also includes an autobiographical story from industry legend Phil Jimenez about the 'fantastical worlds that shaped him'.

DC To Celebrate Legendary Transgender Artist With Pride Special

Alongside DC Pride 2024, the comics' publisher will spotlight a trailblazing transgender comic artist with DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack #1. Releasing June 6, the 96-page one-shot comic reprints the debut of the late Pollack's character Coagula, DC's first transgender superhero from Doom Patrol #70. The issue also reprints the unavailable one-shot Vertigo Visions: The Geek and includes an original short story featuring Coagula written by Pollack's longtime friend and collaborator Joe Corallo.

DC plans to continue its celebration of LGBTQ+ characters throughout the year, with The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley, a Young Adult graphic novel releasing Sep. 3. Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story, a YA graphic novel written by Nicole Maines, was released earlier this month and tells the origin story of Dreamer, the first trans superhero to appear on TV.

DC Pride 2024 #1 goes on sale May 28.
